Barack Hussein Obama – an empty vessel

I just finished watching the Political debate. I wanted to change the channel and watch something else, because I can barely stand hearing Obamas voice. Too bad the debate was on every channel. Liberty had Don Corace(a published Author) speak in convo a couple weeks ago and he hit on some of the political questions. One thing he said that I thought was right on was that most of America during this time in the election process seem to pick their favorite candidate by WHAT THEY SAY. He said that instead of judging our vote on who speaks the best or who can lie the best we need to look at WHAT THEY’VE DONE. Anybody can talk smack and feed lies, but not everyone can follow through and walk the talk. I thought that was especially relevant to this election. I will admit Obama is a very good speaker (as was Hitler), but when you look at the “stats” McCain is the best choice for President. Something McCain kept saying during the debate tonight was that Obama was naive in most of his arguments. Which when you look at the stats that is exactly what Obama is. He is inexperienced and personally I believe incapable of running our country. Also, another thing I liked about tonight’s debate is how McCain took charge. Anytime Obama would try to interrupt he wasn’t able to because McCain wouldn’t let him. I think that just shows McCain’s strength and persistence compared to Obamas. I wish people looking for “change” would just shut their mouths and listen. I think Peter Wehner says it best, “[Obamas] speeches, particularly of late, have been largely free of substance; he doesn’t explain in any concrete way what change he hopes to bring about should he be elected President. If you compare Obama’s rhetoric with, say, Martin Luther King, Jr., you’ll see how glaring the difference is. King used his rhetoric — at once beautiful, uplifting, and compelling — to advance a philosophy and a cause: the belief that America needed to make good on its “promisary note” and do away with racial injustice. Like Lincoln, King grounded his arguments in an appeal to the Declaration of Independence and the moral law and had concrete implications. Obama’s rhetoric, which can also be inspiring, seems almost consciously bereft of unifying ideas or political philosophy.” Amen.

there’s a first time for everything

Yesterday two of my friends and I went to a pawn shop because one of my friends wanted to buy an iPod. I was excited, because I had never been inside a pawn shop before and I wanted to see if it was anything like what the movies depict. I was immediately surprised at all of the cool things they had for such a low price! While we were there the cameras caught my eye. Actually, the PRICE of the cameras caught my eye. So today I went back with my friends and purchased a panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ15 camera for only $150! (regular price being $500). Needless to say I haven’t put it down since and I am so excited to take lots of high-quality pictures!
Michelle: I apologize ahead of time if I’m a little “camera happy” when I come to visit next week. Prepare yourself ahead of time

BTW… I bought this camera with MY OWN MONEY! That is also something I find pride in.

So we all know this upcoming election is very important for many reasons. Not only will this be a historical election, but it will be my first time to vote! I registered for the state of Virginia the other day. I decided VA needed me more than Texas does. Liberty is doing alot to make sure students get registered and hopefully with all of us registering it will strongly impact which way VA sways. Also, on the day of election we don’t have classes and instead of the buses going around campus they’ll be going to the different polls! Another cool thing Liberty will be doing is turning our Vines center (basketball arena) into a big election party. With the current standings all over the big screens and snack and drinks it is going to make this election even more eventful. MCCAIN/PALIN 2008!

To blog or not to blog…

I’ve never really gotten into these kinds of things (blogging, journalling..etc.). Every now and then I’d start writing in a journal, but find myself abandoning it days later. Hopefully that’s not the case this time. Props to Michelle for turning me on to this site. I don’t have much to “blog” about now, but I’m sure I’ll be posting other entries later. Try to contain your excitement.
